How to Produce Organic Fertilizer with Food Waste

The entire process starts with the sorting, separation, and composting. It continues with the granulation, drying, cooling, screening and packaging.

To produce organic fertilizer from food waste the process involves dividing flow into parts.  The first step is to dehydrate food waste then remove in-organic waste. The sorting process takes care of inorganic waste like wood, nylon, paper. Others are plastics, metal, aluminum, fabrics, and packaging.

Seaweed Cultivation

The next process involves the separation of grease, crushing and de-hydration process in the solid-liquid separator. The extruded waste is then dried and sterilizer at high temperature to removal of microorganisms, unwanted pathogens and excess moisture.

Composting

Composting is done in the in-vessel while the oil water separator handles the mixture of oil and removed waste water to produce industrial oil or produce bio-diesel. To achieve excellent quality composting it is advised to use an in-vessel composter.

It offers fast composting at optimum temperature fully enclosed fermentation. It takes four to seven days at temperature of 65C to produce high quality compost. The compost it produces has rich organic material is odorless, effectively kills pathogens and well sanitized.

Granulation

The purpose for granulation is to increase flow property, easy handling. Other reasons to granulate include easy storage, packaging, free from odor, pathogens or weed. Granulation sized depends on the manufacturers preference based on local market requirements. Organic fertilizer sizes range from 0.5mm to 5mm.

Drying, Cooling, Screening and Packaging

Use a rotary drum drying and cooling machine to deodorize, sterilize remove any water content. Use screening process to separate unqualified granules before the final stage of packaging.
